Green Mountain: A Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of the City

Creating a Silent Escape from the Urban Chaos

The design of Green Mountain, created by Chien-Sheng Tung, aims to provide a distinct contrast to the excessive turbulence and boisterous atmosphere of the city. The facade of the building features a black and white color scheme, with elongated windows that emphasize the horizontal dimension. The L-shaped convex roof extends from the ground level to the ceiling, creating a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces.

Inside, the reception centre is adorned with warm, moist wood-colored materials, creating a transparent and delicate texture. The entrance atmosphere exudes a sense of grandeur and elegance, establishing an invisible boundary between the inner and outer worlds, silence and disturbance.

The interior of Green Mountain features a straight and simple corridor, acting as a mediator between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The carefully placed sculptures create a spatial texture reminiscent of an art gallery. Through the windows, visitors can catch a glimpse of the well-designed atrium garden, complete with a rectangular pond and a wooden platform adorned with black and white sofa chairs. The shrubs and aquatic plants in the pond add to the splendor of the space, creating a truly tranquil outdoor oasis.

Green Mountain is a testament to the power of design in transforming a space. It offers a respite from the pressures of city life, allowing visitors to experience a perfect journey for both the body and soul. This precious oasis in the heart of the city truly lives up to its name.

Designed with an international architectural aesthetic in mind, Green Mountain combines originality with adherence to construction standards. The project was realized in the North district of Taichung, where the complex urban texture and abundance of green spaces provided the perfect backdrop for this unique reception centre.

Green Mountain has been recognized for its outstanding design and innovation. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2016 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that showcase exceptional expertise, innovation, and artistic skill, evoking positive emotions and wonder in viewers.
